This vibrant, golden smoothie is full of vitamins A,C,E, fiber and potassium. It provides all the benefits of turmeric without the taste, while boosting your vitamin C intake. I personally love this bright orange rhizome. However, I know it’s not everyone’s favorite.

Admittedly, when I’m feeling under the weather, I will guzzle the most unpleasant drinks. I do enjoy exploring alternative and herbal remedies. Wellness can quickly start to feel super complicated and inaccessible. Superfoods, expensive juices and tonics. It’s easy to forget that everyday foods like oranges and mangoes are super for us as well! This sweet Mango Turmeric Immune Smoothie contains simple ingredients and one easy step!

Why these ingredients?

Mango: Contains vitamin A, E and vitamin C – a powerful antioxidant that promotes skin health and immune function.* In addition, this tropical fruit is a good source of vitamin B6, which plays an important role in metabolism. I like to use frozen mango in this recipe which chills the smoothie without ice.

Orange: Oranges are a juicy source of the antioxidant vitamin C. Plus, they also contain folate, potassium, calcium and of course fiber.  I use a large, sweet navel orange in this recipe. (Tip: don’t fear the white rind it’s full of beneficial bioflavonoids).

Banana: Bananas make smoothies creamy and provide natural sweetness and energy. This staple fruit is full of potassium, iron, and is beneficial for blood sugar regulation. Opt for ripe, spotty bananas in smoothies as they are sweeter and contain more antioxidants as well!

Almond milk: Contains vitamin E and calcium. Some store bought brands are fortified with vitamin D and B vitamins as well. Feel free to substitute any plant milk you prefer like coconut, hemp or oat milk.

Pepper: You may be thinking “why on earth would I put pepper in my mango smoothie!?” I promise just a tiny pinch goes a long way and you won’t taste it. Black pepper helps support the absorption of curcumin (the active substance in turmeric) that can otherwise be hard for the body to assimilate. So, whenever you are eating or supplementing with turmeric, be sure to add black pepper or check the label for black pepper for this reason.

Mango Turmeric Immune Smoothie

Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 banana ripe and spotty
  • 1 cup mango frozen
  • 1 orange peeled
  • 1/2 inch turmeric knob or 1/4 tsp powdered turmeric
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 scoop Mega Food Daily-C Protect Nutrient Booster Powder

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high powered blender until smooth and creamy. Best enjoyed immediately but can be stored in the fridge for a day or two.
